Overview – Alpine Hiking Experience in Slovenia

If you want to experience Slovenia the way locals do, hiking in the Alps is the answer. This full-day tour takes you to two of the country’s most breathtaking alpine areas — combining scenic mountain trails, traditional culture, and untouched nature.

We start with a drive from Ljubljana to Velika Planina, the largest highland pasture in Slovenia, set high above the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. Here we enjoy a guided hike across the plateau (minimum 1 hour, usually up to 2–3 hours), walking among traditional herdsmen’s huts while surrounded by panoramic views of the Alps and the Ljubljana Basin. The pace and route are always adapted to the group.

After exploring the plateau and tasting local mountain food, we descend and continue through the scenic Savinja Valley to the stunning Logar Valley, one of Europe’s most beautiful alpine valleys. At the end of the valley, we take an easy walk to the impressive Rinka Waterfall, where nature feels truly untouched.

This experience is about space, silence, and authentic alpine landscapes — far from mass tourism.

Group size is limited to a maximum of 4 guests to ensure a personal, flexible, and high-quality experience. Larger groups are possible as private tours.

Activity

This is a hiking-focused alpine day, combining moderate mountain walking with scenic exploration.

Velika Planina hiking:

• Minimum walking time: 1 hour

• Typical hiking time: 2–3 hours across the plateau

• Terrain: mountain trails and pasture paths

• Elevation gain: approx. 500–700 m

We walk through one of Slovenia’s most iconic mountain landscapes, past wooden herdsmen’s cottages and open alpine meadows.

Logar Valley walk:
A relaxed 15-minute walk leads us to the spectacular Rinka Waterfall, one of the highlights of the Savinja Alps.

The day blends activity, views, culture, and nature at a comfortable pace.
